"Having worked for several excellent sailing schools throughout the years, I found that there is a real lack of passion for sailing conveyed in the typical "join a group" sailing school scenario. I instill a passion for sailing that not only encompasses methods of safe sailing and navigation but also how pleasurable it can be on the water. 

We will explore the San Juan Islands and beyond, learning from each other throughout the day and finding blissful anchorages for evenings. I prepare all meals onboard from scratch and serve with all the trappings: table settings, flowers, candles and music. If this sounds too romantic for you and your dad or friend, don't worry; I adapt every cruise to the needs of my guests:  intense sailing and /or pub crawling is ok with me too! 

What I can do however—perhaps specialize in—is bringing the apprehensive partner into full appreciation of the sailing life. There is no need for tension, yelling, discomfort, and insecurity onboard. Not only do I teach the right way to do things, I also orient the partner team so they can work together in harmony.  More often than not, after my learn and cruise experience, partners seek out their own boats or immediately charter their own yachts. 

Having been a yacht broker for two years and a sailing captain from Mexico to Canada on the West Coast and from Trinidad to New York on the East, I can offer insights into many aspects of sailing, chartering, and boat purchasing.  I also am available post trip to answer questions and give pointers on these subjects. 

I appreciate that a lot of couples have children.  My learn and cruise program is private and I am kid friendly! We can work your charter so you and your children's needs can be met; more trips ashore, shorter days sailing, special meals for the kids, whale watching, and much more can be incorporated into the trip to make it more palatable for the whole crew.  I've entertained infants and teenagers alike with great success.  Don't let the kids slow you down... bring them along!"
